My HG fence sleeves also came with end caps. my system is square, and molded to look like wood (grained). With the cap on, it looks just like a stained brown wood post. I wouldn't glue it either in case there should be damage below and only part needs to be replaced.
The zip ties are very strong for a human to pull on, but they need to be cut with scissors to be removed. A horse pulls hard (foot caught?) I'm sure it would snap.

I've seen those sleeves, Yip. They are very pretty. Zip ties also weaken from the sun and the weather. You might want to check your occassionally. They get brittle and just pop off. We use them to fasten our window shades in the summer. They get really baked up there and sometimes almost shatter when we go to cut them off. The ones with your fence might be more expensive and have some solar guard built into them. Linda

The horse guard zip ties are made of stronger stuff than regular zip ties, they don't break down in the sun.

It's the UV in the sun that eventually gets to them. More expensive cable ties contain UV inhibitors, but eventually they will ALL become embrittled.

I have had to replace some of my ties even though they are premium quality. Even the good ones get brittle in the sun. It's not a problem though, they sent me a zillion of them.

I have had this kind of fencing for my cross fencing for years. I just tie a hitch in the electric tape fencing around each pvc pipe, no problems about conducting electricity. I don't put a cap on it though. We have driven the metal fence post far enough down that there is a good 6" below the PVC pipe. One change I am going to make is the section in front of my hay shed. I have to keep my mare off that section because of the french drain so I have it fenced about 10 feet in front of the shed and it ties into the cross fencing. I have to remove my post when I have hay delivered in the fall and it means pulling 2 posts up to make room for the trailer to be backed close to the hay shed.
Next year I am going to bury a 2" PVC pipe about 2 feet in the ground that I can just set the metal fence post in and then put the 4" cover over so I don't have to pull the post out of the ground every year. I thought of that after we reset the metal posts this year.
