Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving this year.
Everyone comes to my house. I do most of the cooking. It was a bit difficult as I'm still recovering from a broken wrist at the end of August. Bone is EASY to mend. Soft tissue is quite a different matter. My wrist does not bend forward well. I'm still in PT for that. Also I don't have the strength back in it. Poor dad had to come over at 8am to put the 20 lb bird in the oven. I just could NOT lift that.
Other family members kept yelling at me as I would go and try to lift a big pot out of habit. It all worked well. Others had to jump in and help mixing and getting things on the table. Clean up went faster this year as others jumped in the help split up the left overs.
We had fun, how about your day?

Sounds wonderful. I'm glad your family is so thoughtful and helped out like that. I made a small 10 lb turkey, it was just me and and Dad. Got to feast on yummy turkey, dressing and gravy for 4 days and have to put the remains in the freezer, I'll make soup on some weekend. I have taken to brining the turkey and cooking it slowly in an oven bag and OMG, it even reheats without being too dry and tough with the dressing heated on top. I picked up the slow cooking in an oven bag on this board; learned so much both about horses and nifty life hacks over the years here.

I hear you on the bones healing better than tendons and such. Unfortunately it might set you up for arthritis later on. Mine did. My Thanksgiving was good. Went south to California and it was HOT!! Too Hot. And my brother in San Diego doesn't have air conditioning. Other than over heating it was fabulous!!

I agree with R4F. We all learned so much finding out how things were done in other parts of the country and in other disciplines. Much better than the negative FB.LL

I spent a quiet Thanksgiving at home. I did make a "new to me" recipe w/ sweet potatoes & apples that was good.

Dorothy my brother made something like that using apples and pineapple, I think honey too. It was REALLY good. Probably much healthier than the ones Mom made with lots of sugar.
