Ugh, I know what you mean, though I didn't start "dieting" until my 20s. Lots of bad info out there then, and I didn't know any better.
I was surprised to find out how much sodium cheese has... then I remembered that time I visited Wisconsin and had a cheese factory tour (mmm with deep-fried curds at the end!) and saw how much salt goes into it.
I have gone mostly vegan these days - I'll have meat or cheese once a week or maybe every other week. Not that I want to be vegan, but it seems to work for my body. Still have to work on my "wheat tooth".

0.4 pounds down! Yes, Yes, I know that I will gain that back from drinking a glass of water, but it's the first time the scale has moved even an ounce since I upped my exercise time THREE WEEKS AGO, so I'm going to choose to be encouraged

It says down another 0.4 today... maybe it isn't a fluke? It's not like I haven't been working my rear end off. (or at least trying to!)

Good for you. I too find it hard to go if its been a while. But I love swimming as much if not more lately than riding. So that keeps me going. I try not to weigh myself. (My scale at home bit the dust) but today when I walked in the chiropractors his first comment was have you lost weight? I was dumbstruck. LOL I'm not sure. But I guess so. I have been shopping for new Tshirts since the old ones are too loose. I thought maybe the elastic was wearing out. Guess not.
