So, I thought I'd make myself be held more accountable.... You may, or may not recall me....(I know Mary Ann does, hehe) I'm from a small town (500 population including their pets!) in Michigan. As of January 1st I weight 238lbs. Today, I weight 220. So, I'm down 18lbs with a lot more to go...I'd like to end up around 150-160...any smaller and I just dont think I'd look "well" ya know? I'd LOVE to hear of any tips anyone has that's worked for them! I've got two young girls...4 and 5 so workouts really have to be practical...I cant yet just pack up and go to a gym or whatever. So, currently I'm just counting calories (VERY hard to do for a cake maker, btw!) and walking walking walking and doing bits of yoga (Love!). Looking very forward to enjoying the Fitness board! We all need the support and encouragement! AND for my reward, if I get down to my goal, I plan on getting a tummy tuck. Having kiddos made some skin appear that'll just never go away with exercise

1. Welcome! 2. Good job on the 18 pounds gone!
For cake making, can you chew gum or sip tea while baking? Whenever I bake, I darn near pour the batter into a glass for drinking...I love the stuff.

Sadly since I do this professionally, I have to constantly taste batters and icings. It sucks! So I just put that into consideration while maintaining the low cal diet...bummer!

Hi Beth and welcome!!! Congrats on your weight loss! We have the same end goal. :-) I'm going for 160 (currently 202.9) and then decide if I want to continue to 150 or not.
Glad to have someone else join us. :-)

18 pounds since Jan 1 is impressive. Congrats!
That must suck when you have to taste test for your job. I can understand how that can sabatage a healthy you.
At least you realize that you need to drop some weight in order to get/stay healthy!
A tip I learned from Reds: If I feel weak and think I must be hungry, better drink a large glass of water. It might be dehydration I am experiencing and not a hunger side affect.

Ugh, Snaffle I SO love that tip. I am awful with drinking water. (Doesnt help that we have to buy ours, because we're CONSTANTLY in a state of a boil alert) (I need to tell you I LOVE your signature. It's so true!)
I can't stand soda, so I guess thats a start. My issue is with coffee. I love it. With cream, or sugar, both, or none at all, I LOVE coffee. I like certainl teas too, but for some reason dont like green...black though ;D
Hi Tee and Janepain! Its nice to have similar goals in mind!
What are you most looking forward to once you've shed the weight? I continuously ask myself this in order to keep myself in check (like, when opening the freezer for broccoli and I'm staring at a carton of thin-mint icecream my kids haaaad to have). I murmur, "Is those extra calories REALLY worth not being able to do xyz?" And 99.9% of the time that answer is no and I move on.
I am looking forward to riding my horse again. I know he could handle my current size, but I dont feel comfortable myself in the saddle at this weight.
I am looking forward to going to the beach with my kids and being able to wear a nice looking swimsuit.
I am looking forward to a longer life!

I don't know that I'd feel like I could do any more (or less) with another 40 lbs off, but I do know it'd be easier on my horses. And shallow as this is - I'll look a whole lot better riding English. LOL My treat to myself when I do reach my goal is this: sqpaints.com/SQ_Paints_site/SQ_Designs.html If you go down to the sketches I'm thinking either the 3rd one on the first row or the 2nd on the 2nd row. I am starting to show Remy western (tho just locally) and it'd be fun to have a nice jacket. :-)

Hey, my goal is 160 too, but I am not telling you how much I weigh now....
I admire you being able to lose weight and bake cake. One of my bad habits is "sampling" while baking and I don't have a professional need to do so, just tastes good and is too tempting!
Tee, that is a neat idea, to pick something like a fancy outfit from Lola as a reward for yourself. I would like that, but does that mean I would have to ride in a show though??? I am thinking something that would look cute on the trail would suit me a little better....
