So last month when Dr Dan was here, he asked me if I liked grape salad. I must've looked blank because he said (with "you poor, poor thing" in his voice ) "You don't know about grape salad? Ohhh...." He does a little texty and then says that the following month he is going to bring grape salad to go with our lunch; his bride had consented to make it. And omigosh you guys, oh oh OH, this is my new addiction! So refreshing and decadent, part salad and part dessert, simply awesome. So here you go, simply to die for. Grape Salad 2 lbs green grapes 2 lbs red grapes 1 cup sugar 1 cup sour cream 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened 1 teaspoon vanilla Combine the last four ingredients, and add to grapes and gently stir. Crumb Topping 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup crushed or finely chopped pecans I'm told you can make this the night before and put the topping on top; then stir in all together about five minutes before serving. And oh. My. GOSH, too good to believe!!! We all ate like hogs. *swoon*

I made a terrible mistake.
I let M try it for supper. He likes it...which means less for me.

Oh Reds you are Lying. M doesn't eat stuff like that. He only eats beef and corn. Gotta tell everyone... that salad is absolutely so delicious, I printed it out and it is going in my recipe book. Maybe I will buy the ingredients tomorrow and make it for this weekend!

I was greedy and ate all my leftovers myself. I didn't ask hubby if he wanted any, I just took it. I was on the phone with Chickie and telling her how wonderful it is and she said that since she was coming down in the morning I should save her some so she could try it. I said NO. Wasn't gonna happen. Not even a bite? she asked. NO. And I ate every last bite. Hey, she'll get some this summer. Omigosh, wait until her boys taste it.

That sounds absolutely wonderful!! I'll have to get the stuff to make it this week. But I have to tell you, there's nothing that sounds remotely like "salad" in that, lol... that's a dessert, baby, don't kid yourself - just like ambrosia isn't really a salad either!

I used sugars from a local amish store and found out I should cut down on the sugar. My sugars were so much better, I could tell the difference.
Next time I use raw organic sugar, I plan to cut way down on the white sugar. At least by 1/2 cup.

Hmmm this sounds pretty easy to do. I'm having a Wine, Cheese and Dance Shoe Party on the 25 of this month. Hope I a bunch of shoes and don't spend all my commissions on the food/drink. This is a first and I'm hoping when the wine is flowing the girls will start buying lots of pretty shoes. The other thing is .... Poor Lee Ann between 2 girls - they dump over 300 prs of new consignment shoes at her store. They no longer wanted to sell shoes. Lee Ann forgot to ask HOW MANY SHOES ARE YOU SENDING ME??? THese are not styles she normally caries and she did not have them displayed out on the floor. The poor girl is out of room in the back and 2 new shipments coming in. She's even using ladders to stack her shoes on. I told her to have Charles put the racks of consignment shoes on the trailer and take them to my party. What sells is more room for you! One girl has marked the shoes to sell $35 a pr. The other girl has marked hers up to $90 a pr. "to ease the 30% commission she has to pay."

I made this yesterday. It's good but way to sweet for me! I will have to experiment with less sugar to see if that makes it better. I could feel my teeth protesting as I was eating

I am going to whip up a batch of this salad again on sunday. I talked to Dr Dan and he said his wife used the mixer and blended the sour cream, cream cheese, sugars and vanilla together in a stainless steel bowl. She DID use those amounts of sugar. Her sugar was regular store sugar (not amish sugar like I had) She also did not pack the brown sugar. I did not pack my brown sugar, but the granules were really large (amish store) I tell ya, Mrs Dr Dan's salad was fantastic!! I am going to keep making this salad until I can make it just like hers. I think I will cut down on the amount of sugar. I can always add a bit more if'n I think it just doesnt taste good enough.
