Anyone have one of those GREAT Banana bread recipes that is so darn good you would never think of using another one?
Maybe one that was your grandmothers favorite?

I'd be interested as well. I am not a bread eater, but I LOVE banana nut bread. As of right now, I can't find a recipe that beats the Fresh Markets loaves--so I just head there when I really want some! Mmmm...maybe I'll head there today for some--along with some of their wonderful Sushi Spring Rolls.

I called my mom and asked her for her banana bread recipe. Dont know why I never got it from her. I always loved her banana bread and have never found a recipe to come close to it. WHY didnt I ever think to ask her for HER recipe hmm... maybe I did. Her reply was... I will look for it. I hope I can find THE ONE you want. I told her that HER recipe was perfect, WHY would she collect any other banana bread recipes?

I FINALLY got the recipe for Banana Bread that my mom made when I was a kid. I think this one is the best. If you don't have a favorite, try this one!
BANANA BREAD
1 Cup sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 eggs 3 mashed over ripe bananas 3 tablespoons sour cream 1/2 teaspoon soda 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
Cream all of the above together, and then add:
1 cup chopped walnuts 2 cups flour
Put into one loaf pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. When a toothpick inserted in the top comes out clean, it is done!

I had to try this as I had a bunch of rotten banana's and love banana bread. In 30+ years I have never made a loaf I liked.
This rocks!!! I did overbake it a bit but it is still very good super moist and best of all tastes like banana bread not flour.
But it is doing no good for a diet. Had some for supper for a before bed treat and of course just downed some for breakfast.

It had the same affect on me. I am so happy to have gotten this recipe after all these years. Before the boards burped, snelson had commented that this is the same recipe she uses. You are right about the banana flavor! Why do people make banana bread and cover the flavor up with cinnamon? Why do so many women keep making different banana bread recipes? Just FIND a good one and stick to it.
