I finally had a chance to post my introduction. My name is Linda and I ride an 11 year old Tennessee Walker named Shadow. I had the pleasure to attend one of Chris's clinics and I had a wonderful time! I have been riding for about 9 years and have wondered every day how I have survived without horses! I ride with a group of about 10 people and we travel extensively throughout Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas with the occasional trip to Illinois. My husband doesn't ride much but he enjoys the occasional ride and camping trip! We live just north of Kansas City and have 3 dogs, lots of barn cats and about 20 cows. Hope to see you on the trails!

Welcome, other Linda! I am glad that I don't have the only gaited horse here. I ride a Paso Fino mare. Chris is a lot of fun. I wish I lived closer to her. I think she could get me interested in endurance riding with no difficulty. Linda

Chris, Unfortunately, the problem is that none of those rides are within 10 hours of me. I live in North Idaho. You can't even get to south Idaho from here--you have to go through Montana if you want decent roads. I live 60 miles east of Spokane, WA. Look at a map of Idaho. I live about half way across the Panhandle on I-90 between Coeur d'Alene and Kellogg. I have friends who used to compete on their Paso Finos, but they live much closer to Spokane on the other side of the mountain pass. They have pretty much given up as well--it just isn't a big area for endurance rides. I live in the wrong spot for this kind of competition--but that is okay. I really don't live where I could condition a horse at speed anyway. The mountains are too steep and rocky and the roads are too hard. You can't get off the roads or trails--you can't get through, even on foot. I just found a couple of places where I can actually canter my mare for a hundred yards or so--it is a shame. She has such a lovely canter. I wish I could spend more time cantering along. Life is all a trade-off. Where I live is beautiful and rural. We can't have it all ways at once.
Anyway--it does look like fun. And the type of riding I do is closely related to your riding--everything has to be done for the comfort and well-being of the horse. I really like everything I see you doing and really appreciate your willingness to share your expertise.
Linda
