I have a great sugar cookie but would like to frost them. Anyone have a good recipe for cookie frosting? I am having no luck finding that tastes good, looks, good, and can be stacked. Any ideas? Thanks!

I call it "confectionary sugar frosting" - kind of like a butter cream.
I don't have a recipe - but I use 1/2 stick of butter (softened - room temp.), confectionary sugar (powdered sugar) - start with around 3 cups, milk or heavy cream or half and half - enough to make it spreadable - you want it kind of thick. Add vanilla extract - I add at least a tablespoon - or however much when the frosting tastes good to me.
Or you could add almond extract.
Frost the cookies, place them single layer on a cookie sheet until the frosting sets - a few hours - then stack them in containers.
Hope this helps!

Just wanted to add - you can make this basic frosting and add peanut butter - voila - peanut butter frosting - really good on chocolate cake - or you could add cocoa and have chocolate frosting.
