'kay, baby-wipes, of course, I use them everyday - I douse them with grape seed oil when I clean the udder.
Thank you Linda, I do learn a lot from you - thanks to you no fly bites this year! The operative word is "loved"...LOL

For horses with white tails manes etc use Oxiclean in WARM water. it doesn't seem to work well in cold. It will save hours of scrubbing time. I used to be really careful with it and not get any on skin but my horse never had any problems with it making her break out or itch so I used it on her mane and it didn't start a problem so I take the rest of the bucket and do her legs with it too now. Then I rinse and use shampoo on the whole body. She comes out sparkling white with minimum effort.
And NO I love your new shocked saying. LOL I could add to that, "or stay the heck away from the fence."

From vet clinic and grooming experience - how to bathe an unruly cat. Have a 5-gallon bucket ready FILLED TO TOP with warm water. Scruff cat and lift by scruff (I usually wouldn't advocate carrying an adult cat around by its scruff, but for short-term it is fine.) Keeping a hold of the scruff, lower cat into bucket. Keep its head above water. Amazingly, some cats seem to really relax and enjoy this. Rub your other hand all over the submerged cat, to get the coat entirely wet. Remove cat from water, shampoo, and then repeat dunking to rinse.
I think cats like this method better because they aren't freaked by a huge area of water (ie sink) and also they aren't freaked out by a sprayer. I've had cats with a history of "sedate to bathe" do just fine with this method when fully awake.
Also, no matter what shampoo I use, I always dilute it to water consistency. It is much easier to cover the whole animal, it suds just fine, and you use way less.

For washing horses, I find a "rubber pet hair brush" ( the "bristles" are rubber and it's pretty soft) is better than a sponge for washing the lower legs. I swish it around in soapy water or squirt a little shampoo onto it and it works up a great lather. It will scrub around the tendons and bony parts without scraping like regular bristles. The horses seem to enjoy it and I can even scrub the coronet band and back of the pasterns without injury. like this? www.beval.com/Products/Grooma-Soft-Touch-Curry/2049000.aspxps. I think moving these topics to useful stuff is a great idea Snaffle. I will continue to post questions on the main boards so everybody sees them and I get more tips but if MA or Amber has time I am 100% on board with moving each topic to useful stuff after a couple of days.

I hadn't seen that kind but yes, I bet that would work. The one I have is a rubber bar shape, like a regular brush, but all the "bristles" are those rubber "fingers" like the one that you show. I like it because it gets a larger surface area and seems to be a good shape for the cannons and tendons. My mares get scurf on the hind surfaces, and the boys get it on the front - and they all get mud etc between the tendons. And wow, they do make a lot of suds with just a little soap. The suds seem to lift the dirt and crud - and using less shampoo means it will rinse clean easier/faster with less water.

LOL I couldn't find a picture of it either! They make a kind of "mop" squeegee that was hawked on the late nite infomercials awhile back. I got one of those, it has exactly the same kind of rubber "bristles" and as a plus, there is a rubber scraper on one side! won't bend/break like a metal/plastic scraper I plan to find it next spring for the horses, since we don't actually use it for anything.

When you're ready let me know and I'll move this to Useful Topics. I'd probably leave it here for a while since I don't know how many people go over there on a regular basis.
