A woman at the barn has a mare that she was told is registered. All she knows is that she was called Kassie (don't know if that's a barn name or part of her registered name) and comes from Colorado.
She's trying to see if the person she bought her from has found the papers yet, or knows a breeder's name.
Is there any way to look her up? I know on AHA if you have part of a name you can get possible matches. She's 10 years old, sorrel, with 3 white socks and a blaze.

All the horses are listed in alphabetical order, with color and DOB. If she knows the first part of the name, it would be possible to find it.
Or if she knows either the sire or dam, she could be looked up that way as well.

She could write and ask if there are any papers in the seller's name. Lost papers can be replaced, but she would have to have something from the seller stating that the papers have indeed been lost. A little while ago, I wrote an article about buying a horse and this is exactly the reason that I said to ask to SEE the papers before you make the deal and to make sure that they are in the seller's name or that the seller is a SIGNED agent for the proper owner. Unfortunately, more than likely, your friend has bought herself a nice GRADE horse as far as the AQHA is concerned.

She intends to use her for barrel racing, so having papers isn't all that importnat. She jst would like to get them if she can. She's still waiting to hear back from the former owner.
I don't know why people don't just transfer the stupid papers! Nib's hadn't been transferred since he was a yearling! Thankfully that person signed off when she sold him. I put him in my name as soon as the trial period was over (not that I was going to be handing him back!).

I think a lot of people don't know they are supposed to do it. I sold Quincy last March, gave the people her papers with a signed tranfer form. They haven't transfered her yet. Same with Murphy. They guy even asked about it, because he was going to put her in his wifes name. They're going to have to transfer her soon since they planned on breeding her.

Could anybody look up a Nathan Ross and see if he's got any registered to him? She thinks he's a dealer though and doubts he had the papers in his name. Other than that she's totally at his mercy of returning her email and giving her the papers.
I can't imagine buying a QH without papers these days, if for no other reason than to be sure there's no HYPP.

I don't think you can look up by owner, unless you call them. But I'll check the site.

Can you look up with a partial name? I know someone said it's alphabetical but I was just wondering if there's search options. She came with the name Kassie.

Remember, barn names often don't have much, if any, to do with registered names.

Just going for some pure luck here, LOL! I'm hoping a trader wouldn't put much effort into something to call the horse and just take it out of the registered name. My friend has always always spelled it "Kassie" so I'm hoping it's specific to something.

There are a LOT of horses with Kassie as the first word of their name. Do you know the year she was foaled?

www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1398305&share_this=YHere's her ad on Dreamhorse. I was way off, just one white leg. LOL! Born April 99 according to him. But I'd like to just slap him. It CAN'T be an AQHA quarter horse with "unknown" parents! He marked her as not registered but told my friend he had papers, so I don't know what's going on there.

I checked a couple of the other horses that guy has for sale. They aren't in his name. Checked her ad again. It says she's not registered. From the pic. It could be that she had too much white and wasn't registered. I think she's old enough that the white rule would have knocked her out.
