Hello.... I'm sw, 54, retired from teaching, and directed here by a friend. What a great board! I'm sure I'll enjoy reading posts, but I don't post much anywhere. My husband and I have no children, but bunches of animals: two rescued arabians (a 30-something-yr-old mare and an 8-yr-old gelding), 3 quarter horses, and a 20-yr-old grade gelding that I ride most of the time. Also have 1 bouvier, 1 border terrier, 1 border collie, 10 sheep, can't count the goats, 1 llama, 1 neat cat, and varying numbers of guineas and chickens. I'm getting better at riding as I get older since it seems more imperative to stay on top. We ride mostly with a local sheriff's mounted unit.

Hi, sw! Please don't sit in the shadows; we'd love to hear from you! Who was the friend that directed you here? You're about my age, and while I have kids, I sure have a lot of kids with fur! I'd love to hear more about your animals! Welcome! I'm so pleased you'd come!

I'm glad you came SW. Mary Ann, I suggested that she post here and recommended it as a very nice place. I talked to Chris about it this morning. SW does some very interesting horse-related stuff with the local sheriff's posee - from parades to crowd control! at a national car race. They even had a beach trip last year. She probably knows a lot about bomb proofing horses too:).

Hi Mou. Welcome to the board. I think you'll find that people here are very respectful of each other and that we have high standards for how we treat folks here. I hope you will enjoy EquiFriends.

Hi,
I'm 40, been riding since I was 5. Been hooked on distance riding since 96. Just this year got back into 50's, curtesy of my 8 yr old mare. I might have stayed at the shorter distances if she'd behaved, but she made it clear she needed to move up. She's been a MUCH nicer ride doing a couple of slow 50's this year <LOL> and I have made it through the longer hours in the saddle again and am having fun. Still love doing 25 or 30 on my 17 yr old gelding and getting done early though. I'm fortunate that many rides around here are 2 days so I can ride them both.

Hi Everybody!
I have been a lurker since Chris and MaryAnn started this board - I loff it - decided it's time to come out of hiding!
I'm Jane, in my 40's, live with my amazon parrot, Sunny, whom I've shared my house with for 16 years. I have 2 black mini schnauzers, Shadow is 10 and Snickers is 4. 3 horses own me - Cocoa, 12 year old (b/s paint) black mare; Sooner, 6 year old sorrel grade quarter horse mare; Savana (aka Snotball and/or Satan's Spawn), a 2 1/2 year old cremello quarter horse filly.
