I love Traumeel too Karen. I also take Arnica montana. When Dakota was in the accident. the lady that helped me bring D. back, had me use that on him. Later, I figured it wouldn't hurt me either!! LOL
On the MSM. I had always been afraid to use it, because my vet had told me (after D.s accident) That using msm for long term would cause cancer. After reading Ambers post I started using msm on Dakota. I really think it is helping him alot. Also after reading this post. I am wondering if my Vet was right. it seems very healthy to take. I am tired of the pain I am having and am ready to try it myself. How much does everybody take? In the past, I have tried the supplements for humans that have Chronditon, and msm, etc. for joint pain. It helped my knees back then. I am now having trouble with lower back and shoulder. I like the pain spray we got from Denise for short term relief. but maybe this would help long term. I have Dakota on msm from horsetec.com it has devils claw in it as well. could I take that?

MaryAnn, The lady who helped Dakota had me use traumeel. and that was over 10 years ago. she was very homeopathic savy. she had him on Arnica, and something else, that I can't remember the name. I just remember having to use alot of those arnica pills for a horse! The lady's name was Barbara Myles. last I heard, she was working on race horses in California. She did massage therapy, and Bio scan. She was wonderful. This is such a big board. maybe someone has heard of her. I sure would like to see her again. Anyone heard of her?

Thanks Marci, I wonder if he did mean that too. DMSO, that is. All these years I have been afraid to use it. ( because of what he said) and now I find out differently! I only tried Dakota on it recently because of the good things a trusted friend said and the things you all said on the board. I figured at Dakota's age. it couldn't hurt too much. I feel so much better about using it now!!! Thanks again Marci.
Also MA, I feel so silly, I responded to you because I thought you were ASKING Karen if it was safe to use traumeel on horses. I re read it this morning and saw you were telling her it Was safe. LOL I should have known, you of all people, would know about traumeel. After all, You are our " Go Too Person " on all things Horse!!!! I say that respectfully! I do mean that.

It is safe for your horse Sara,. Its the same stuff as horse MSM but extra pure vs only 99.x % pure. Just not safe for your wallet to do that on a regular basis.

Hello I accidentally bought 100% human msm powder and would like to know if it is safe for my horse? Hahaha! I get what you're saying. We would have no problem giving human labeled MSM to a horse, but everyone freaks out about using MSM labeled for animal use for human consumption. It is literally the same stuff from the same manufacturer with either a human label and high price or animal label and low price.

Well they almost always put the human MSM into capsules. So part of the markup is for the 'packaging' My frugality level borders on miser and I found that if I dissolve 3/4 teaspoon of MSM in hot tea I can get it down w/o needing it to be in a capsule. Luckily the horses don't have the taste buds to go "oh yuck" with MSM just top dressed on their feed.

Actually I can put it on my tongue and then down a sip of drink-even just water. And the taste is gone, and it leave my palate clean feeling. But since i buy the capsules now its no ig deal, that along with big B vitamin AND extra Biotin has my hair growing back even though I am on some heavy duty drugs now for my stupid Sarcoidosis. The MSM and Turmeric really seem to help with the arthritis, especially now that I am off pain killers and anti inflammatory. Stupid liver and kidneys....
