Lets say you have the munchies. You KNOW you've eaten right all day (or all week, or even all month bless your heart! ), but here you sit with the munchies. You're not hungry, but you want to graze. What do you do to get yourself someplace else? What activity do you do that's incompatible with eating? I go outside and dink with the horses in the summer, or go work in the garden and get my hands grossly dirty. (Not that I wouldn't pick a flawless ripe tomato and eat it right there, or a snippet of arugula, or some sugarsnap peas, but I digress.) In the winter I go take a hot bath. I don't ever take food in the bathtub; it's incompatible with eating. What activities do you do to get you out of the munchie mode?

munch on ice cubes... turn up music and sing it at the top of my lungs... make a hot pot of peppermint tea, or apple cinnamon tea, flavor with splenda.

Yep if points all gone I grab a big glass of sometinhing with no calories...either tea, or crystal light, or even plain old water will do. Now if I do have points a good snack is plain popcorn-you can sprinkle butter buds on it. Or hubby likes it with garlic pepper.

You can also pop plain popcorn, spray it with Butter flavored Pam, and sprinkle on Molly McCheese.
I go for a walk if it is nice but when it is bad outside is when I get myself in trouble. I try to drink water or a diet pop to keep from eating.

I try to drink water.
Or maybe hop on the bike.
You may want to find something else...this can cause your teeth to crack.
I heard aaaalllllll about it from my daughter's taekwando teacher, LOL!

Housework is incompatible with eating. Put on the rubber gloves, break out a strong smelling cleaner and it not only kills the appetite but gets you a little excercise too.
Call a friend on the phone
Taking a walk or hitting the gym is also incompatible with eating.

Tooth brushing works for me.
Calling people on the phone works, if they are home.
Knitting - my husband is getting a nice long scarf LOL! It's in a rib knit, so I also have to pay a little bit of attention.
I don't usually have the problem in the summer, unless it's too hot to go out. Even indoors, if I can stay engaged in something, I'm good.

I chew gum. I also make strongly flavored drinks (crystal light, or flavored tea, etc). At home I just don't keep much in the way of food handy, so anything I eat takes some time to heat (canned soup/vegetables/popcorn) and none of it is especially sweet or salty (popcorn is low fat kettle corn, barely sweet, but doesn't create cravings).

Dorothy - I remember you wanted to get in the habit of brushing your teeth after lunch. I used to just keep my toothbrush and a sample size toothpaste in my lunch box, it helped remind me. I just never remembered when it was in my desk drawer.

Hmmm - I'm not sure it would fit in, but I sure could put something in there to remind myself. I'll try to remember to do that on Monday. Good idea!

Cleaning! Especially the toilets! It's productive in both directions.
Think I'll try the tooth brushing thing.

Cup of hot herbal tea in the winter and then something to do - typing, igsaw puzzle, anything the preoccupies me. In the summer it never seems to be much of a problem, outside and munchies just don't go together for me!
