I have a baby George Foreman that was a gift several years ago. I go months without using it, then really use it a lot. I always use it to cook my salmon on and just love it. I've also grilled eggplant and really liked that until I got a bitter on.
My friends have a larger one, but cleaning it was a hassle. Cleaning my teeny one is easy.
Anyone else with a grill? What do you use it for?
Well, I found ground beef sausage today!! The bad news is that each 2 oz patty has 9 gms of protein and 16 gms of fat. That means that each one counts as 1.3 meats PLUS 2.4 fats. I only get 4 1/2 servings of fat most days (plus ~ 1/2 fat included in each serving of meat). I do get 5 1/2 of my little bit higher day and 7 on my really high day. So, the directions say to cook the sausage in a frying pan. If I do it on the grill and enough grease leaks out, do you suppose I can count it as only 2 fats??
OK - a bit off topic - but if I stop at the store for baked Fritos to go with my leftover chili and am really good in every other way, I can squeeze in one beef sausage patty with my breakfast tomorrow!

Great to plan ahead!
That way, you are not caught unprepared for when you want the patty!

I suppose you could try it a few times and see if it messes with your losses. The way I see it, no matter how I might choose to jiggle the numbers, my body is the most accurate calculator of all. It's going to count all nutrients correctly every single time.
As to a grill, I have a panini maker that I can use like a Foreman grill, but I prefer to use my grill. I have one in the top of my JennAir, and I use it a LOT. A piece of tilapia grilled with garlic and smoked salt is only 98 calories a fillet, is extremely lean and safe, and I add a dollop of two bean, cilantro and lime salsa to the top for another 30 calories. Life Is Good.
Is there any reason you couldn't cut your beef patties in half, and have one on one day and the other the next? Maybe then you could enjoy better with less guilt or worry.

That is exactly what I came here to post. As I'm eating the patty and thinking that it is really good, but I sure can taste the fat, I realized that I COULD cut it in half!! One of those "Duh!!" moments. I do portion control on everything else - I've been know to have 1 1/2 slices of something, etc. A good bit of fat did come out during cooking. Duchess will enjoy her breakfast!

I have one of the new Foreman grills that have the removable plates - just pop them out and put them in the sink or in the dishwasher. Also comes with a sponge/scrubber that works great.
I love my Foreman grill - use it all the time!

What types of foods do you cook on yours, Jane? I'm not very inventive.

Well - I'm not very inventive either - but I cook hamburgers, hot dogs, boneless chicken breast, turkey breast filets, bacon, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, and I have the waffle plates, so I make waffles every once in a while. Also have the baking plates - did french fries/breaded chicken once - wasn't impressed - they cook better in my toaster oven!

Don't they work like a panini press? Last night we had some panini with some homemade focaccia that I'd made and put in the freezer. I sauteed some onions, mushrooms, and fire roasted peppers in a teaspoon of olive oil, garlic and oregano and then piled that on top of the focaccia sliced open and some smoked provolone. I slammed the focaccia 'lid' on and put it in the panini maker, and I'm telling you it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!!! Crunchy on the outside, stretchy-herby-veggilicious on the inside. I had a quarter of a 'sandwich' and a pear, and that was dinner. It was all about 380 calories, or about seven points. For me that's a splurge, but hey. I deserve it. And I fit it into my regular daily plan!

I have no clude what a panini press is - and barely an idea of sort of what a panini might be. The GF grill has ridges in a straight line from front to back. Like this I've wondered how it would do with grilled cheese and I know some people make quesadillas in them.

It does look similiar. I have a "baby" GF - I could get one sandwich type thing on there, but that's it. Works fine for my two pices of salmon or for 3 slices of eggplant.
