Stephanie, the bagged cereal is a great idea. Are you getting your fruits in??

To cope with thirst that feels like hunger I try to have a glass of water before I eat any snack, and make sure I drink a decent amount with my meals and especailly when I'm having my dessert (usually chocolate) If I just eat without drinking during the meal I often don't feel as filled up from a reasonable portion. If its chilly I'll drink hot green or herbal tea (hot black tea is not very thirst quenching to me)

Really great tips, everyone! Here's one I do sometimes when I know I'm going to be gone for a long time running errands. It keeps me from picking up something. I have this little insulated lunch carrier that I used to use to bring meals to the barn where I used to work. I throw in an apple, a spicy V-8, and an individual serving of string cheese. That's about 200 calories, maybe a pinch more. I can eat any part of it or all of it, it has more nutrition than most anything I can grab while I'm out, and still end up with less calories. Plus, none of that will mess with my blood sugar. Sometimes I bring the whole thing home, and just congratulate myself that I did okay. I can get pretty sick if my blood sugar falls too low, and I fear that more than I can tell you.

I used to feel weak and complain that I needed to eat!!! Cherokee would tell me to drink a glass of water.. explaining that I wasnt hungry.. I was dehyrdated... it really ticked me off!! how dare she tell me what was really wrong with me!!! Weeeeellllll after months of listening to her nagging.. I finally began to pick up a glass of water when I got those weak feelings...and found out Cherokee was right. She would tell me to drink a glass and if I was still feeling that way in 20 minutes .. to eat something.
One day while at the nursing home visiting my mil... I was talking to the nurse about martha not drinking enough and suggested giving her something to drink prior to her dinner.. I learned that they do NOT allow many of the residents to drink before or during the meal because they will not be hungry and wont eat!!! wowser....
