1. 2. I will follow a plan called "carbohydrates addict" I like it because its totally simple and I can have anything I want on it. Its a very simple plan where one avoids ALL simple carbs even healthy ones from starchy veggies 23 hours a day, sticking to proteins and other veggies for breakfast, lunch, snacks. Then at supper one eats a balanced meal which can include cake, cookies, any sweet one might be craving that day as well as pasta or white rice etc.
3. downside. it can be hard to be disciplined about this, I didn't like the fake breads/pancakes etc so my breakfast selections are limited --which works fine for me, I'm a streak eater anyway and will have the same thing for 2wks in a row before tiring of it. --its also hard at work --usually I have to do salad bar to avoid simple carbs. I could make entrees and heat at work but I like just walking to the cafeteria. 4. general fitness -- In a few weeks I'll start riding again, I'll try to start walking/jogging some when the weather will allow it, but the riding and some physical therapy I have to do to keep my knees working is the main focus of my exercise.
5. No short term rewards 6. I lost over 20 lbs doing this a few years ago, and gained about 10 over the past year when I quit following it. 7. I'll be better able to walk back home or to the trailer if my horse comes up lame while riding, I'll feel better about my riding and I can help my horse out more during a ride by walking the technical bits during the endurance rides.

Chris-you and I would get along...when I feel like I look better, that helps motivate. I've been trying to put some make up on when I go to work...at least mascara and lip stuff.
Mary Ann-When I look at you, I honestly don't see a fat person. You have slender legs. The rest of you is always covered in lotsa coats when I see you, but I'd venture to say that a lot of you is muscle from all the lifting, etc. you do.
Ride4fun-I definitely hear you there...being at work makes following nearly ANY diet plan impossible.

It seems that a lot of us like carbohydrates a lot more than we should. I'm so glad that companies are coming out with "whole grain" stuff...I really like Sara Lee's whole grain white (I don't eat it a whole lot, but hubby does) and the whole grain cereals now make me happy...cheerios, etc. Makes me feel a bit better about eating bread.

Cherokee, that's very sweet of you to say! But you can trust me, I have puh-lenty of extra; in fact, in the last two and a half years I've put on 35 pounds. I was down and looking halfway decent on WW and hit a stall and got disgusted. It was way too much work for no return so I quit. And I didn't like the kind of person I had become; all my notions of good nutrition were taking a back seat to counting points. I didn't like that. BUT, when I quit training outside horses, *whoosh!* on came an extra twenty! And then I got hurt and couldn't exercise worth a lick, and *whoosh!* here came some more! And I gained an extra 5# since the first part of December. I feel like I've been put in a strange body; it's not mine! And like somebody came in and messed with my clothes!!! *sigh* I miss my old clothes! And I absolutely HAVE to do something or I'm not going to be able to fit in my show clothes!!! I'll be hanged before I go spend a ton of $$$ on fat girl show clothes!!!
