udge recipe
1 box powdered sugar 3/4 cup cocoa 1/4 cup milk 1 stick butter 1 tsp vanilla nuts optional
put all ingredients except nuts in a microwave bowl. cook on high until bubbles. approximately 2 to 3 minutes. add nuts, stir quickly until smooth. pour into a greased cake pan. freeze for 15 minutes.
If you want "drunken fudge" like tleigh, you can just add whatever liqeur you like to taste!

Is there a way to make it without a microwave?

I'm sure you could just heat the ingredients on the stove until bubbly, just don't let it start to crystallize. I've never tried it but it SHOULD work, it's just heat.

When you put the liquer in, do you use it in place of some other liquid so it will harden correctly?

No, my sister just added a splash of whatever she wanted, it didn't take much to get the taste. I haven't made it with liquer but I made it with peppermint extract for Christmas and it tasted great. It's a really loosey-goosey recipe so you would have to make a BIG change to mess it up.

So has anyone tried making the fudge yet? I'm especially curious if it worked on the stovetop.

Ummm.... yeah. I did the microwave and followed the instructions. It came out like icing, never set up into fudge. I have no idea what I did wrong.
How sad is that??

ROFLOL!!! T-leigh, when it does that you have to take the attitude that you intended to make an ice cream topping. Hey, many a time my strawberry or raspberry jam didn't set up right and I instantly changed it to ice cream topping.

Oh, and I imagine you could have done a quick save by adding more confectioner's sugar. When you make a buttercream frosting and it's too thin, that's what you do.

I wonder if it is the wattage of your microwave. Mine cooks much faster than the one that Cally had because it is stronger.

Yeah, MA, but I didn't know until it didn't set... ya know? Having never made it before I didn't know how quickly it was supposed to fudge-up... LOL! Oh, well... yup, ice cream topping. MJ - good thought but we do have a pretty powerful microwave.
