I did a ham that was sooooo good!
I got a spiral cut ham.
On the stove I brought to a nice boil 1 cup of maple syrup and 1 cup of bourbon.
I put the ham in a crock pot and poured the hot maple syrup and bourbon over it making sure to get it in between all the slices. I “cooked” the ham until it was heated throughout and almost ready to fall off the bone, basting it every time I went past. Took it out and sliced it.
I left a goodly chunk of meat on the bone and later used it in a pot of beans - boy they were good!
If there is any ham left over it makes wonderful sandwiches for lunch or breakfast sandwiches.

ooooooh, that sounds good! I'm not much of a ham eater, but I might have to try this! I wonder what I could use to replace the bourbon, though?

Replace the bourbon??! Geez, I'd leave it and lick the pan!

BTW, I have no doubt the alcohol would cook away. If it's a flavor challenge you're concerned about (since everyone has different triggers) then I'd be at a loss.

if it were just for me, I'd use the bourbon. What a cool flavor combination. But when you live with a sober alcoholic, you are careful. Even though the alcohol would burn off, the suggestion is still there. It's tough!
I never thought of cooking a ham in a slow cooker. Now my mind is thinking of other flavor combinations to put on it!

Orange juice w/ham is a nice combo... I've done a glaze using frozen juice concentrate that had a good flavor - I bet that with the Maple would be good.

And---with the leftover you can make this casserole... Just take about 8 oz cubed or cut up ham. 1 lb chicken breasts (cut up), 12 oz frozen broccoli, 1 1/2 cups swiss cheese and 1 lb baby red potatos. First - cut up the potatoes in about 1 inch chunks. Cook with 2 tbls water in microwave for about 5 minutes. Toss with ham, chicken, can of cream of chicken soup, 1 tbsp garlic powder and 1/2 cup milk. Add broccoli and swiss cheese. Cook in 9 X13 pan on 350 for about 50 minutes or until chicken is cooked. YUM! It tasts like chicken cordon bleu
