Our bookkeeper's daughter brought some crackers that she made today and they are YUMMY!
Erin's Seasoned Crackers
1 pkg Dry Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix 1 1/4 cup canola oil 1 teaspoon cayenne red pepper 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 whole box of premium saltine crackers
Mix the seasonings and oil in a bowl. Take the crackers out of packages and put in a large container (she said she tries to stack them like they come out of the plastic sleeves). Pour the seasoning mixture over the crackers and put a lid on the container. Turn the container gently over and over. Let it rest every now and then, but keep turning until the crackers are fairly evenly coated. Remove the crackers from that container and place in another container for storage. Erin said she serves this with a grocery store dip, but I really like them well enough to eat alone. They would be fantastic as a salad cracker or as a finger food for a party.
It sounds like the crackers would be soggy and nasty, but they are not.
