Laura, how about chicken and dumplings! mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I learned to make that when I was about 8 or 9. My mother was in the hospital and my dad gone and my grandmother hadnt got there yet. The neighbor lady was watching us kids and she was a home ec teacher. I told her I wanted to make chicken and dumplings for sunday dinner. She coached me through it!

Pork roast, red cabbage and potatoe dumplings. That is a no-no on the diet scale, but comfort food to the max. Rice Pudding, OMG, I kill for it. And for tea time, sheet cake with fruit and streusel and freshly whipped cream mixed with creme fraiche. And pasta, pasta pasta, simple things like Orchiette with butter and sage and a generous sprinkling of fresh grated Parmesano.Or Gnocchi with marinara...I am getting the munchies..LOL

Oh, N*O, wish you were closer. I made some rice pudding last week. It just sounded so good and it was! I took the last of it in my cooler to my ride. When i finished 25 miles of riding, the pudding tasted so good!

Every time I went to my grandmas house her housekeeper made rice pudding for me. This is the only thing I never cook, If I make a whole pot I will eat the whole thing. I am very disciplined with food if I have to - but not rice pudding, it is my big weakness. Now I go to a cafe in Laguna Beach a couple of times a year and order a portion. I usually eat it with my eyes closed...moaning.. (just kiddin).

Roast chicken (or turkey)...the skin gets all brown & crispy...mmmmm. Mom's onion dill rolls...they are SO fragrant & yummy, though it's a bloody struggle to get her to cough 'em up at Thanksgiving. Eggnog, though I rarely have very much of it. Just the smell is comforting. Hot spiced cider is really nice, too, especially on a cold fall day.

When I think about comfort food, it reminds me of our Thanksgiving menu. I'm comfortable cooking it because the family won't let me change a thing. I'm confortable eating it because it is delicious! So my favorite comfort food is turkey homemade dressing and gravy mashed white potatoes sweet potato casserole fresh green beans pea casserole homemade biscuits ambrosia fruit salad chocolate brownies
Isn't Thanksgiving a wonderful holiday? Four days of family, fun, and yummy leftovers. No stress, no fuss, no cooking, just thanksgiving. YAY! And it's coming up soon. Let me be the first to say Happy Thanksgiving,ya'll.
