Bear in mind that a lot of how I cook is by approximation - tweak the recipe to suit your own tastebuds. 1 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar Cream those three ingredients. Add and mix well: 2 eggs 1 t. vanilla In a separate bowl, combine: 1 t. baking soda 1 t. salt 4 cups flour 1 c. dry oats 1 c. coconut Add to wet ingredients, mix well. Add: Half a bag of Ghirardelli Double Chocolate chocolate chips - they really are best for this, but if you can't find them, regular chocolate chips will work. Add enough flour to make the dough hold together and not spread all over the pan - I never measure. Just dump and test with my fingers. Oh yeah, preheat your oven to 375. Bake the cookies at 375 for 18-22 minutes, depending on how you like them. I like them brown and crispy, so I'll put them in for 22-23 minutes at least. I think that's it - not a hard recipe, and very yummy! My husband requests it all the time.

My recipe is similar except that it includes 1 cup of whole wheat flakes, like Wheaties, in place of 1 cup of the flour.
