We had a family get together to gather around my dad last weekend. Just so he knows we are all there for him etc. Sat around and watched old family movies, etc. Anyway my mom made his favorite bread and I forgot all about this bread. She used to make this at all the holidays etc. It is so easy!!! It sounds weird but I know you will like it....
1 loaf sweet bread, not sourdough but sweet 1 red onion, chopped up in small pieces 2 Tablespoons butter 2 Tablespoons mustard 2 Tablespoons poppy seeds 4 slices of raw bacon, chopped up in small pieces Sliced Swiss Cheese
Preheat oven 350 Slice the bread into slices but don't cut all the way through to the bottom. You need the bread to stay connected at the bottom.
Mix the butter, mustard and poppy seeds together. Spread this mixture in between each slice of bread.
Shove a slice of swiss cheese in between each slice of bread
Shove a small amount of bacon between each slice of bread
Shove a small amount of chopped onion between each slice of bread
Wrap the entire thing in Tin Foil and bake for 45 min at 350 degrees
The bacon cooks into the bread, the swiss cheese melts and it is ohhhh so gooooood. Its even better the next day.
Enjoy! Char
