Our cat had kittens.. we havent had kittens born here in almost 20 years. Our cats are all neutered. Blue was a new kitten last summer and I this year when I began to think seriously about having her spayed.. it was too late. She had 4 black kittens and a pretty blue .. just like her. One by one the kittens began to disappear so we moved mom and the last 3 to the kennel where we thought they would be safe. Nope.. tom cat came in past the dogs.. squeezed through the gates..
The tom comes here and fights with our neutered male... and wakes us up during the night argueing with our cats. I know he is trying to get at the last kitten.
we are down to the gray kitty.. mom and kitten are secured in a pen ... tonight I caged up the other two barn cats.. and set out a live trap. If I catch that tom..... well you dont wanto to know.
Does anyone know how old kittens are before a tom will not attempt to kill them?
This little kitten is 23 days old... and I sure intend to get the tom before he gets the kitten!!!

When they aren't nursing on Mommy anymore. It's not the kittens he's actually after......he knows if he gets rid of them, Mommy will come into heat again.....THAT'S what he's after......
We had a stray tom years ago that tried to get a litter of kittens. We brought them into the house to keep them safe......
Then Mr. Tom took to hanging out on the back porch (I NEVER feed ferals...attracts too much wildlife).
When our boys went out on the porch in broad daylight and he hissed and growled at them......well, let's just say Mr. Tom signed his own death warrent. Couldn't take chances with the kids.

I agree Diane. If a cat comes and stays, gets along with my cats and accepts veterinary care, then it can stay. If it tears up my cats and drives them off their food, then *bang!* Thank God I haven't had to shoot one in a long time. It's been years.
I feed twice a day so I don't leave food down to attract wildlife too. I put it down when I go out to do chores, and I pick it up before I go in.

We had a mother cat about 20 years ago that had kittens. I could not for the live of me find her babies. It took several days...
One afternoon while I was doing chores in the hen house.. I noticed mother cat... crawled gently passed and behind the old cluck hen setting on eggs in a wooden box with only one end opened. As she squeezed past, purring.. mrs cluck cluck would peck at her over and over. Didnt phase mom cat.
Intelligen cat, hid her kittens behind the old hen! She knew those kittens would be protected!
Last night after I crated the two barn cats and once again secured mom and her kitten, I set out the trap next to the corn field. When we craweled into bed we heard the Tom!!! This morning the trap was still empty.. dog gone it!!! Tonight I will set it near the garage.. that holds mom cat and her kitten.

I have a male stray wild Tom kat outside my house tonight n I have 4, at the most 3 month old kittens but the momma kat has disappeared over 2 weeks ago. Can someone tell me if the Tom kat will kill these babies even though momma kat isn't around? Please help. He is outside my house now n I'm watching him but I don't want to be up all night n I can't bring them inside because i have COPD and emphysema

As long as kittens don't grow up fully to defend themselves the wicked tom cats will go on attacking to the extent of killing them.Once they can kill the kitten they have nothing to do with it.I have 3 tom cats and 2 female.Only 1 wicked tom cat recently killed a rescued kitten of 7-8 weeks brutally.

You guys are idiots n hopefully it’s just talk. how bout teaching your kids to stay away from the cat and put out a trap it’s a cat it doesn’t know any better and apparently some people don’t either you really aren’t smart enough to figure a way out to keep a cat away how bout maybe just shooting a gun off maybe the noise would scare it but you never know it might get you instead.

My kittens are 12 weeks. Are they safe from Toms? I’ve kept them secured in the house at night but eventually want to let them be totally outside cats. I plan on having then fixed at 5 mo per the vets advise.
