Well, we did seal a deal on a truck - found a '92 F250. It seems to run really well, keep our fingers crossed that it will haul us around safely for a few years with reasonable maintenance costs. It seems to have alotta power, certainly enough to haul my little 2 horse. The interior is in good shape for the age of the vehicle, hopefully that means the two previous owners took good care of it mecanically too.
Need to have the right kind of hitch put on, guess I will do that when I return from Boston. I find making major purchases to be very stressful so I am glad it is done!

Hey, congratulations! I find major purchases stressful too. I'm glad you have this one done. I hope this is all the truck you're looking for! Oh, and you know it's a prerequisite to post pics of your rig on this board....

Cool! It'll do fine. Do you know what engine it has? We hauled with a 1977 F250 for YEARS. Now I have a 93 F250. It's got a 460 in it and will pull anything. I drove to OR a few years ago with 2 horses and the camper and never had a problem. I've only had to do routine maintence on mine. Oil changes, tires, battery, ect. Couse is only has (ALMOST) 40,000 on it. LOL

I am happy for you. My new truck is the third Ford vehicle we will have, our old truck runs great and we would still use it all the time, but the gas milage is really bad. 6-7 miles to the gallon, hauling or not. Now we get a diesel. Before our old truck, in the 70is, we had a Van (did not everybody have a Van in the 70is, LOL), it still run fine after 20 years,we had the engine rebuilt once and had a new trannie put in. It looked like crap though, LOL and we gave it to this old hippy. Can't wait for my new twuck now!!!!!!

I will try to get pictures soon. My truck is a '92 F250 HD, 7.3 liter, turbo, diesel, 5 speed. I don't really know what the liter thing means, but it is bigger then the other truck I was looking at with the 6.9 liter. I was most impressed by it's ability to accelerate going up a steep hill, my big concern about a diesel was the slow down going over the pass or up into the foothills.
I will tell you, this truck seems really big. I test drove a full ton Silverado, and I swear this truck seems bigger. ...lol. There are actually 2 batteries under the hood!
Anyway, this will be the tow beast only so probably won't be driven too often. I didn't know about plugging them in under 40 degrees or letting it idle before shutting it off. I did know about waiting to start the vehicle. Once I get the hitch installed, I will be giving myself towing lessons sans horse until I get used to it. Sheryl
