truck. You should definitely break in your engine before you haul with it. I would say that your dealer is not one who deals with a lot of people who haul regularly. The first dealer I went to told me that a 1/2 ton was more than enough to haul a horse trailer with. Yeah, right, I used to haul with an old full size Bronco and did fine BUT that was in the days of all steel vehicles and smaller trailer. I hauled my friend's 2H aluminium with her full size Tahoe and had to go down a slight mountain (I say slight because of some (Rockies) I have hauled over) and her trailer almost beat me to the bottom and only had one horse in it. Scared the beegeebees out of me. Swore I would never haul with anything smaller than a 3/4 ton again and I don't haul over 60-62 mph even with my big truck.
As to the turbo, you only need to let it cool down after hauling, especially long hauls, not literally every single drive. What I usually do is pull in, unload, tie up, open the tackroom and then shut the truck off. I will leave it idle a little longer if I have been pulling through the mountains.
Also with the diesel you have to wait for the glow plugs before turning it on. It has a "wait to start" light that you must wait for it to go off before starting or you will be replacing glow plugs. One last word of advice (again from my dad) is plug it in the winter (temps under 40 degrees) when you are not driving it. It keeps the oil pan warm so the oil is not so sludgy and can lubricate your engine much quicker, less damage, not to mention warms the truck up inside faster.
You will like your truck for hauling, parking in a parking lot is another story. Their turning radius isn't as good as I would like.

You have no idea how much all your info is helping me. I did print it all out for Superman to read. I hear you on the turning radius, my old truck does not turn 'on a dime either'. Thanks again, now if only the truck will be here - it took 10 weeks to get it!!!!!
