I guess the good Lord was watching out for me.
Instead of going to the convention, I went to an Alanon district meeting. I've never been involved in service work before and have kind of kept myself back from it.
But, the lady who came over with her husband and helped fix my fence when Szybki and Zab broke out, needed a ride. I figured I owed her a favor. They really rescued me. So, I took her to the meeting, and came home the new Alanon webmaster, LOL... oh well, so much for not getting involved.
Then on Sunday, I woke up feeling rather sick again.. more coughing and just puny feeling. Went to the doctor on Monday. I've got bronchitis. Came home with some antibiotics AND feeling good because I have lost 8 pounds since my last visit in December! I was thrilled with that and so was my doc...i'm not looking too far ahead, just taking it a pound at a time, LOL...
Then I talked to a friend who did go to the convention. THE HOTEL HAD NO HEAT! Can you imagine? No one got refunds. They slept in cold rooms. Only one of the meeting rooms had heat in it. The banquet sucked (it did last year too. She said the speakers were interesting and the awards neat, but otherwise, it wasn't that great.
Guess I didn't miss much after all! And being sick, it would not have done me any good to sleep in a cold room!
I thought last year that hotel was pretty bad. We had no heat in our room last year, but they fixed it for us.
I hope they change meeting places

You can't see me right now, but I have a big dumb grin on my face. The saying goes something like 'Whenever the Lord closes a door, He opens a window.' But personally, I think sometimes that it should go 'Whenever the Lord closes a window, He opens a door.' Blessings, all around us!
