This week I'm on a different schedule at work (five days instead of four) and am getting off about an hour earlier. So starting this week I change into my gym clothes at work and then drive straight to the club. Excercise and come home. I've been three times this week so far and am feeling pretty dang good. My problem is that I don't really know what to do to acheive my goals. Basically I want to be more fit, and losing weight wouldn't hurt. So far in the last couple of years I have lost close to 50 lbs and would like to keep losing and get a little more serious about it. I have altered my diet to a much healthier one. What I'm doing now is mostly cardio work. Warm up for 10 minutes or so on the recumant bike, or a few minutes on the elliptical cross trainer (that's as far as I can get at the moment), and then do a round of arm or leg workouts on the machines that aren't free weights. Can't remember what they are called. And then 20 minutes on the treadmill alternating from a normal to a fast walk on a .5% incline. I don't really want to build more muscle, just tone and trim down. Any suggestions? Thanks much for the help!

Do you go to a gym to do these workouts? Why don't you enlist the aid of a personal trainer. It can make all the difference in helping you reach your goals.

I do want to talk to a personal trainer tomorrow, but I know they're pretty spendy. So I'm not real sure I will be able to afford one. But they are advertising specials - so here's hoping!

Even if you worked with one just a couple of times to get a good routine figured out, it would help!

Hey Tee, when I lived in Germany and I couldn't speak the language of the personal trainers, I bought a simple book that helped me put together a plan. It made an amazing difference. I basically created 2-3 routines that I varied between depending on the weather etc. Let me see if I can find it because it is designed to photocopy out a routine or two that match your goals.
What really got the results (but I had to get a little fitter to actually do it since alternating between cardio and resistance type workout is physically more challenging) was circuit training which I did about 2X a week. I rode my bike too and from work everyday that was decent weather and then about once a week did a focused strength training work out.
I think you are on the right track with the cardio, where a trainer can probably help you is developing a strength training routine if you don't feel comfortable about taking routines from a book. Those can be really simple and incredibly effective - it doesn't have to be a big deal complicated program.
Talk to you soon! Sheryl, who just needs to actually start exercising again!

Doing workout is really must to stay fit. My sister is a workout nut and wears comfortable and stylish workout tights while exercising. I was wearing workout pants in my gym classes, but was not finding them comfortable. Came to know about Carbon38 workout leggings and bought them.
