You thought it was a horse, didn't you??? LOL.....nope, little critters can get just as pretentious with names as big critters. Technically, I suppose his name should be SRF Airtight Alibi of Fozglove and FAS Arabians (FAS Arabians is what I call myself in my dreams...LOL). Each subsequent owner is allowed to add their name.
His name.....you'll appreciate the humor......WB (*my* name for him) was bred and raised to be a v-hob. A v-hob is a vasectomized hob (a dud-stud). Female ferrets come into estrus, and if they are not brought out either by chemical means or breeding, will develop aplastic anemia and die. Those breeders who don't want to use a hormone shot will keep a v-hob in their ferretry.
He was a gift from a breeder in OH. When she quit breeding, she offered him (and Digi) to me as a gift, and I jumped in with both feet. I had them neutered, so they happily live with my 2 spayed girls.
WB is big. I call him my TankBoy. A normal mill ferret (the kind in the pet stores) will run a respectable 2-2 1/2 pounds.
WB tips the scales at 5+ pounds, probably close to 6 pounds in winter weight.
The last time I had a ferret at the vet's, I mentioned that I had a 5-pounder at home. They all but called me a liar. When I went back to pay my bill, I had WB tucked in my coat.
They believe me now.....LOL
WB
His buddy, Foxglove Digitalis, came along with him to be a cheesehead, too. He's solid, but only weighs in at about 4 1/2 pounds, a little more in the winter. He's athletic and thinks he can fly......and he is extremely intelligent. You can almost see him working through a problem......mostly how to escape....LOL
Digi
If you want to get technical, WB is a mitted champagne. Digi is a masked sable.
I call them *brown*, and *not so brown*.
More than you wanted to know, right???
