My friends closed on the property today so they now legally own the property that their house and my casita are being built on My roofing materials and welder are that the job site now. The welder (person, not machine) was missing last week - quite common in Panama and they can sometimes be found in one of the bars. My friends' house is further along - the last of their floor was to be poured last week and I think they get windows & doors this week. A lot of the bathroom tile work in their two bathrooms is done. My electrical boxes are in, but not sure if the wire is run yet. I don't think any of the cabinets are finished yet.

I imagine that life moves at a slower pace there. Something to be envied.

I can hardly wait to see the finished product. It seems most countries take it a bit slower than the good ol' USA. Our nation is one of less vacation and more hurry but we still end up behind. I like vacations...I think everyone should take at least a week if not 2 a year. Or be like Switzerland with 6 weeks of vacation a year

I think this is going to be finished faster than many houses in the US. We didn't decide to do this until sometime in April and it is now supposed to be finished in early August so less than 4 months.

I came down to Panama on Monday. Here are some pictures that were sent to me on June 30. This is my friends' house - the opening is the door leading out to the patio. Inside is the living room. Out of sight to the left is the dining / kitchen area and the door to their bedroom / bathroom. The "hallway" in the back goes to the guest bathroom and guest bedroom. This picture is taken from my "living area" looking into the bedroom. You can see the window opening facing the street on the right. Straight ahead is where they put the brick wall without the window opening, but didn't put the coating on where the window was to be cut out. The doorway to the right goes to the bathroom and you can see the doorway from my bedroom into the bathroom. The window has now been cut out. This picture is taken from the side window of my living area. This area is quite small - maybe 8' wide? The picture is at a weird angle. The window that is the foreground is actually farther from the corner of the building to the left than it appears. The window to the left inside the building is the window over the sink. There is actually another window on that same wall between that one and the corner closest to the person taking the picture. Looking through the house and out the kitchen door, you can see my friends' house. If it works, this is the view from my friends' living room. The view from my kitchen and dining area will be similar.

What adventures you're going to have there! I love that you're doing this.
BTW, how is Terry feeling? Is he back to health yet?

No, Terry isn't well yet . . . He is much better. Still has nerve pain around his eye when he wakes up and then again in the afternoon / evening. He is on prescription pain meds, but has been able to cut them down some and still have bearable pain. Vision is also still quite blurry which is a bit frustrating (and I'm sure scary as he can only see out of that one eye).
