My horses have been losing a few hairs for a few weeks but today when I was out there it seems they all decided to turn loose at the same time!! I think that we may have spring

I gave Tanner a good grooming Saturday - nothing spectacular. Sunday, another good grooming - and yes! lots of hair! It got up to 60 today, so I'm expecting even more

Holy cow Marci...that is some shedding! We went out to ride this evening and the horses were letting go of their hair but for some reason it seems the white patches were really loose. The paint my daughter rides lost twice as much white hair as sorrel.

My older horses are shedding like crazy. The younger ones didn't get as wooly and aren't shedding as quickly.

Shadow for the last few years has grown a winter car fit for a yak. A big white yak. It's wonderful when that hair ones off, the results are quite dramatic. Her shoulders and most of her neck are down to summer coat. The tummy is losing it slowly, and it stands on end making her look potbellied. She is doing so good this year I am planning on riding her again. Especially since I found a new girth at the expo yesterday, 22" neoprene for 5 bucks! I will need to add a cover because she doesn't do well with neoprene but I couldn't pass it up. Kerry wants me to bring the mare who bowed last spring back into shape too. That is going to be slow going in the deep sand. But she healed a lot better than I thought she would. I can't believe Shadow's going to be 29 next month. It's strange how now I feel the rekindlin of the horse passion. I haven't felt much of it since Mark died. In fits and starts at times. But Nothing like it used to be. Course I am also only caring for 2 1/2 horses instead of all of Kerrys. I burned out on that.

went out today and rode both of my horses. They have such short winter hair that it doesn't seem as extreme. BUT....my daughter brought in a couple of horses that are owned by the barn. One looks like a Yak She took my slickEZ and made him shine. Had as much hair on the ground as Marci did with Shadow. The other also has a lot of hair. He was diagnosed this winter with Cushings so his hair is wiry and coarse and is not shedding as much...but she still managed to get a good portion off to make him a little more comfortable.. Great day for riding

Shadow is down to spring coat on shoulders & neck. I got a ton more off. Washed her tail and back legs. She has been in heat last week. What a mess. Spring and mares....even old ones. I even hopped up bareback. She was her normal Ole jiggy self. Got to love the oldies.
