Monday night I got home about 8:30 pm .... Walked in while my house was being robbed. I had driven by the front to pick up my mail curb side. I ALWAYS look at my front doors when I drive by. They appeard to be closed. Put the car in the garage and walked into the kitchen. Tossed my coat on a chair and put my purse and keys down. Looked up and noticed a glow in the hallway. I did NOT leave the master room lights on. Walked to the hallway and the front door was wide open. Turned around walked to the kichen picked up purse, keys, jacket and house phone. Go out on the drive way and call 911. After a few mins I got a bad feeling that the driveway was NOT a good place to be. Walked over to the street and my side walk up to the front door. The cops came. They walked through and said the sliding glass door in the master bedroom was open and the back gate door was open. It was NOT open while I was calling 911.
They kicked in my front doors. Broke the door frame. They took my jewelry box. I had a few nice pieces lost some history in old wedding rings that had come down to me.
All of this didn't hit until Wed. I was sort of a dull backed case. I couldn't keep a thought thread going all day long. Just drifed from room to room to room. I'm sort of better day. Thought I would try and get some work done here at the office.

the feeling of violation was very strong for me when my apartment was broken into. It took awhile for me to sleep well. I'm SO glad you weren't hurt and that you realized something was wrong and left.

I'm so sorry - it is hard for those who haven't experienced a break-in to understand that feeling of violation.
I'm glad you are OK - that is what is most important!

Yikes. How scary. Check out some hock shops for the jewelry.

I'm glad you weren't physically harmed - but I can understand that weird disoriented feeling! You might want to talk with somebody in a little while, just to get those feelings heard.
(((hugs)))

(((HUGS))) I'm glad you are OK other than the emotional/mental trauma. I'm so sorry about the loss of the sentimental jewelery.

I just read this and it's so scary. Seems like there are a lot of break-ins right now. I'm so glad you are okay.
