I bought an awesome barely used set of chinks from an aquaintance but they were too big and kept falling off. I sold them to a friend who is very appreciative and I am envious everytime I see them on her as I will never find a hot deal like that again. Anyway, I want chinks for protecting the legs from briars and brush. any recommendations on where to buy them, what features to order etc? Just for trail riding, but frankly probably the only set I will ever buy so i want them to be half ways decent... Thanks!

Harrys is closed. I am fine ordering online, but just wondering if anyone has a place to recommend or even "what to look for" when ordering. some are snaps, some are buckles, what colors hold up best to trail use etc.

LOL I thought you were looking for the best place to buy "chicks".

You probably will want to be able to oil them or use some other waterproofing method. So, I would suggest dark, smooth leather. If I remember correctly, you will want chinks made of chrome-tanned leather. You might also want mule-hide, if you have a choice.

Frostym...chinks are shorter chaps to make it easy They will come to just below the knee rather than to the ankle.

I saw several pair at North 40 a couple of days ago that were reasonably priced. They had several different styles. You may remember the store as Big R. Maybe not what you are looking for--but worth looking, just in case.
