I bought a new, 2014 Ford Edge, in Ruby Red on July 31. I've never had a red car and I really liked that color this time, but what a pain!! I am SO glad a had a friend who went with me and helped me all along the way. He was and is a trouper and that was the 3rd car he help a friend buy! I had 4 diff cars I was going to get, only to find out each one had already been sold. The internet info was not keeping up with current happenings. One dealership held us until 10:45pm signing paperwork to pick up the new car in the morning. 9am the next morning I get a call that that car had sold too. We went back to the oringinal dealer and he was able to find one in the color I wanted, with the light inside, tail gate lift and on board computer system. Oh and chrome wheels. This morning I was going to go pick up my new plates at the dealership. Walk out to my car and my left rear tire is almost flat. It held until I got to the dealership. THEN I find out the hole is in the side of the tire and not fixable. $275 for a new tire, on a new car, and I had opted out of getting road hazard.

sorry about the tire . . . I always get road hazard on my tires. Funny, never realized it, but I don't ever purchase warranties except for that.
Congrats on the new car!!

Congrats! Buying vehicles is so stressful! Finding honest hard working sales people is difficult to find.

Gracious! What an ordeal. And to have a flat tire to boot. Glad you aren't soured on your pretty new car. Hope this is the end of troubles for you.
I bought a new Ford Fiesta last Jan. on my birthday. I picked out the car, test drove it. bought it, got insurance and title papers, temporary license tag, a 7 year bumper to bumper warranty, and drove the car out in three hours. I love the on line computer systems. Last month it told me my air pressure was low. Got it fixed. Next day it told me still low. Went back to tire place and they took a nail out of my tire and repaired it. Cost $10 bucks. Sure beats going flat on the x-way. I named my car Mama Bird. She takes such good care of me!
Did you name your car?

Congrats on the new car!
I'm getting a new car, probably next month, or October. I've spent several hours on line checking reviews and consumer report guides. I've been in email contact with one dealer. I have the car and options picked out, the salesman knows about when I'll be in. I plan to walk in with a check, and if they don't agree with the price I'm willing to pay, I'll walk out. Since this car is a 'want', not a 'need' I get to be picky about that I want and what I'll pay. I have 3 dealerships in mind that I'll go to get the price I want. I will not sit in a dealership for hours for the process. So it will be interesting to see how bad they want my business.

Congrats on the new car!!! Crome is such a nice touch on a red car. How strange they kept selling the cars our from under you. And DANG on the tire, sure it wasn't damage done before you got it?

Kit - what are you getting?
I'm also going to be getting a new car, but not sure exactly when. I have the money saved up now so I'm just waiting for my Honda to die - which might take a couple more years or might be next week.

That sounds like an awful lot of unnecessary hassle but sounds like a pretty car. I really wanted an Edge when I bought my current car in 2011. I ended up with an Envoy because it was a good deal and they gave me almost as much for my car as I paid for it to trade (I'd had it for 3 years). I like my Envoy but my next car will probably be an Edge.

There are some car sites on-line that will give you information on the dealer's prices that will put you in an excellent position to deal with the salesmen.

Kit- we did exactly that. We had a certain amount of $$ for a new car and we weren't going over it. We walked out of the dealership in the evening with no car and no deal. The next day (shocking) the guy called and said he talked to his manager and agreed to our price. Black Toyota Camry SE. I love it and got personalized plates that say KARP8DM.

Well if you like the car over the long haul that extra tire charge won't be a big deal but it sounds like they ripped you off. Sidewall hole is likely to be a tire defect unless you know you hit a pothole or curb.
I had a real road hazard flat on my tires that I'd had for a little over a month on my old car back in june and was bummed that I had not gotten road hazard and the Peerless tire manager was "You can get the warranty for up to six weeks after the initial purchase" and let me do that even with the already damaged tire.
Paying for the road hazard insurace for 5 tires -the ruined one + the 4 tires now on my car was almost exactly the same $ as just paying for the new tire would have been; but now I'm covered if I hit another deep pothole and catch the sidewall of the tire and I felt like "what sweet customer service" vs "Argghh, why didn't they ask me if I wanted to add the road hazard when I bought those tires, I always do that"
Enjoy your cute new ride and I think we need a picture of ruby red with chrome wheels.

I got a new car just before new years. (Ford Focus, Oxford white, nick name "Polar Bear Cub") We rarely have tire issues, so opted out of road hazard. Wouldn't you know it, I've gotten two flats on the same wheel & needed new tires already, and only had the first oil change a couple of weeks ago. Both times the flat was due to a nail/screw too close to the sidewall to repair, so had to buy a new tire! and they are spendy at over $100 each. Seems they are never in stock either, both times (once at the dealer, the other at a local tire shop) they had to send out for the tire to be mounted the next day. The second time, I bought a road hazard warranty, so we should be flat free until the warranty expires

Gee, my tire shop gives me free road hazard and flat repair. I didn't realize how lucky I was.

Road hazard will replace the tire if it can't be repaired. You are lucky! those tires add up!

Congrats on the new car!! What fun...well except for the flat tire. We always get the road hazard warranty when we purchase new tires...we were not offered it on our new truck when we bought it. We got a great deal on a lifetime warranty for the truck though. No matter how long we own it or how many miles it has on it...it has bumper to bumper warranty. It may not have been something we would have wanted to spend on but our last truck had 180,000 miles on it so we do keep them a long time and with the 0% financing we decided we could afford to put the lifetime warranty on it....and btw...it's red too...first red vehicle I have owned.
