I hauled to a trailhead and met another endurance rider who is starting a 6 year old. He is braver than Sadie about a lot of things, especially curious cows but needs a buddy to maintain pace. Sorry no pics, I had my camera clipped to my belt loop but never got it out.
Sadie was not too bad about the cows. There was a gate right by a water tank so around 20 heifers or young steers were clustered there. Sadie was leery but followed Pico past the cows and through the gate which he had let M open from his back. No way was Sadie going to let me try to fiddle the gate closed from her back with the cows edging up for a closer look but that was perfectly understandable since she has not seen many cows yet and has never had the experience of moving them.
Sadie did jump at a few ghosts and one trail marker, goofy girl but she was pretty good, she took the lead a few times. She did also decide she had to go off trail when we went by some donkeys that were being led down the trail. I didn't grok that one as the donkeys were just stopped and looking at the horses but it was no biggie, she walked to the side rather than jumping and running or anything dangerous.
We went about 12.5 by my GPS. Its just a cheap unit but very little of the trail was switchbacks or up and downs so its probably pretty accurate. I don't like the feel of strap around my arm so I put it on my helmet which worked pretty well.
What horsey stuff has everyone else done?

We too have had record-breaking heat for a month straight. The horses have been on vacation and air conditioners running full blast.

Sounds like Sadie is doing great. How old is she now anyway? How is the colt doing - terrible I forgot his name - Leonardo or ? Time flies and my memory sucks.

TroyLynn and Leonardo are doing great in Missouri. He is 9 I believe. Sadie is 7 this year. Hard to believe its 7 years since I was taking all the foal pics. Not so hard to believe I haven't updated my icon in 7 years T&B in SD has Nick(8) and her DH has Moon? The anglo-arab that Chris had raised. I think he is 10, seems like he was a 2 year old when Nick was a colt at the first gathering. I think Nick and Moon are doing fine, getting plenty of leisure as the humans are expanding their family lately.

I haven't been doing much with the horse, other than feeding, cleaning, hoof trimming brushing, and building a new shelter for the winter. For exercise I have been swimming and riding a bike. 2 times a week I ride with a group of people on our bikes. Its a blast and I am meeting new people. Been on a couple dates with one of the guys, wink wink. Nothing romantic-yet.
