Mostly I'm writing about it because I want it to stay a fond memory. We picked up one of "Mason's girls". A is 3 years younger than Rose and Jacob, but they have all been friends for as long as they can remember. She loves horses almost as much as Rose and has been a regular visitor. Rose practiced the teaching sills shes been learning as a "counselor in training" at horse camp. The girls and Mason were having a great time. Mason feels so much better with some weight off and he was going over a low "jump" and A was learning to trot and canter.
I took Super for a walk. He has been a little off balance ever since his incident, so we haven't really walked him like we used to. We just took it slow and stopped a lot and just walked the flat part of the pasture. We stopped under a tree where there was a lot of tender green grass. He looked so happy. He would take a few mouthfuls of grass and then come over for a hug or a scratch, then go for a few more mouthfuls. I think he really wanted me to know that he feels loved and cared for. I will cherish that.
After I put Super away, Jacob sat on Chalk and I took her for a walk in the pasture. She wasn't scared of anything... she seems VERY solid that way... but she certainly isn't used to watching her feet. She tripped on a rock and dropped to her knees. I was impressed that Jacob stayed on, with him just sitting on her and no saddle or anything to hold onto but her mane. He didn't even get scared! She walked over the stream with just a hesitation. I took her over a little trenche where the stream used to run (before the flood). It wasn't deep and she could have walked across, but after her first steep step down, she decided to jump the rest of the way. Still Jacob held on, no problem! I think we are going to have to do a lot of walking her around out there before she can be let loose. I want her to know that there are rocks hiding in the grass. Maybe she should take a lesson on that from Sadie, LOL!
