"GREAT NEWS! NANCY C IS HOME!!!!! Thankfully her mom, Annette, is a retired registered nurse Posted by Lisa Lou on 8/2/2014, 8:17 pm 70.186.164.134
and Nancy was able to return home yesterday. She was hospitalized for five and a half months and had ten surgeries, but she is doing much better. She still has the intestinal fistula which will have to be surgically repaired at a later date and because of that, she is still on TPN via IV twice a day. (She cannot have anything orally...no eating, no drinking.)
Annette and Sherri said to tell y'all that she's still quite weak and she's not up to using the computer yet, but they're hoping that she will be shortly.
Her dog Kira is staying in the bed with her and one of the cats likes to lay on her. I was also told that Nico, her parrot, has not shut up since she got home. "

Well I'm sure being home with the dogs and horses and just HOME, will help Nancy recover. Sounds like she has a lot of that left to do, prayers going up for her.

Awesome!!! Her ordeal has been unbelievable. There's nothing like home to make a sick person feel more like themselves. While I'm not thrilled about the TPN, it's a good tool to get her over this rough spot and get from *here* to *there.* I bet she feels so relieved to see her family!
My prayers for her continue. She's had an astonishingly rough road.

Nancy posted on that board yesterday:
"Hi everyone..... Posted by Nancy C on 8/10/2014, 10:03 am 99.43.188.101
Sorry it took me so long to post, but it is amazing how little stamina I have.
Thank you all for the welcome home.
I am now allowed ice chips, hard candy and gum. I also get two sugar free Popsicles each day. It is all just comfort food as it comes out the fistula right away.
Still waiting on an appointment date for Emory.
I hope to be on more often. Love y'all! "

Another post by Nancy on the other board:
"One good thing from my ordeal..... Posted by Nancy C on 8/11/2014, 1:55 pm 99.43.188.101
I forgot to tell you that there was one good thing from my last 6 months. I have lost a grand total of 110 pounds! Still have more to loose, but right now we are concentrating on getting well and not worrying about weight loss.
I have a procedure scheduled for tomorrow morning to track the paths from the fistula. Then next week I see the Dr. again and we discuss feeding me through my gastric tube instead of the TPN (IV nutrition)depending on the results of tomorrows procedure.
Will try to keep you all updated! "

Kind of hard to remember this all started with a bariatric procedures! Glad you are keeping that in mind as you heal.

Wow, 110 lbs. Thats almost a whole person. But your right, the weight loss can wait, got to get you healthy. I'm so relieved your doing well. Guess you won't be needing that bariatric procedure.

From another poster on that board today...
"Nancy C would like some prayers. She ended up with fever of 101.9 Posted by Lisa Lou on 8/15/2014, 10:16 am 70.186.164.134
and was readmitted to the hospital yesterday. They believe her PICC line is infected. She is feeling better this morning and her fever is down to 99.4. This is the first time she is going to be without an IV line since February 18th!
The test the other day were good so they're pulling the PICC line and discontinuing the TPN. They're going to tube feed her through the duotube.
Please send some prayers that she bounces back from this, goes home soon and that the tube feedings go well.
Thank you. "
