heh. The RM for that Shamrock ride in WY says endurance people drive 6 hours to see their friends (and ride) -we are a strange lot.
Driving to ride is the trade-off for having the horses at home and I (and dad) enjoy the Deter riding company. It fun to see the horses I don't ride or only rarely ride out on the trail.

Great pictures! And I think maybe the best part of all is seeing R4F's dad out there enjoying riding once again with his new extended family. All the horses are enjoying the trip, and Sadie is picking up some much-needed experience. It doesn't get much better! I see Mason sporting a more streamlined look. These longer rides are so good for his exercise program. And it looks like he is having a good time.

Correction. Dad has never not enjoyed trail riding. He has no interest in just riding down the road at home and pre-retirement it was too hard to get him to leave early enough for a day ride to not get rained out, so I had quit ever asking him for a long while but he has always loved trailer camping and trail riding.

How fun! I love the horse you Dad is riding. My favorite horse color is the white with black mane and tail.

Great pics! Glad you had fun. Which one is Mason? I guess I pictured him taller.

He is taller, it's just that we had a kicking incident, so generally he is farther away, making him look smaller.
He has lost some weight. His "beer belly" is much smaller. You can see where his withers are. But that fat pad over his shoulders still makes for difficult saddle placement.

Ha! If he was out foxhunting, he'd need to be wearing a red bow in his tail. He's looking good! Glad you had so much fun. Did you know he kicked?

I think his kicking is something that started when he became king of 300 acres. When he was sharing a more reasonably sized pasture with other horses, he was a good boy. Now he is a self-entitled brat (I have to say, though, there has been a HUGE improvement in his attitude since we've been keeping him in the arena. He seems less stressed and happier to see us and definitely not so bossy.)
