 If you wouldn't mind...updated in red.

Dottie could use some feel good thoughts. She had a bit of a tummy ache this morning.

She ate her groceries...then while dining on her hay she laid down and continued to dine. Then got up and continued to dine. (Pu-lease, you didn't think she'd stop eating for a bit of a belly ache, did you?) Then down one more time. I kept watching her closely and she began to paw at it a bit. Then she called for me so I went over to her. Checked her gut sounds, she had plenty of good quality sounds on both sides. Color was good. Refill was fine, pulse and respiration fine too. ::) So while I'm sure she had something going on and was a bit gassy I'm not sure really what is/was going on. Gave her a dose of banamine and we went on a walk-about for a bit. She settled down and continued to want to dine on grass and hay. I spent the whole day outside working on some burn piles and so forth that have been needing attention. She acted fine all day. Ate some beet-pulp lined with mineral oil and some hay pellets at lunch time. And then ate the same for dinner. I wish I could sleep well knowing she was fine and dandy, but I'm just. Not. Sure. :-/

I'll go down a couple of more times between now and bedtime. And then I'll set the alarm for about 3AM and check her again.

I've been super absent lately, bugged with other things. Dottie has been my "go to" being. I need her to be OK. If you wouldn't mind jingling your curb chains, saying a lil prayer, or whatever it is you do when needed. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks
Lisa

:-/ Keep us posted.

I'll keep her in my prayers...I sure hate it when they decide to lay down like that while they're supposed to be up and eating.

Was anything about the weather or her daily schedule different than normal?

Aw you got it. It strange, from what you typed, she seems to be just fine, but you know.... sometimes it's just a gut feeling that they aren't quite right. You're doing all the right things, and if it is something, you have caught it way early which is great. Keep us posted. :)

Sunday morning update;

Thanks ladies :) I had coffee with Dottie this morning...I LOVE coffee with Dottie. She slurps. I slurp. We slurp together ;) She is bascially her normal self this morning.

The best I can figure is one of two things or a combo of both.

She started to get a bit dry since the weather has been cooler the last week. She had seven piles between dinner last evening and this AM when I went out to feed. They started a bit hard and dry and moved to softer and oily ;D I'll raise her salt a bit and since we are out of grass I'll start adding alfalfa cubes to her (and Rainies) breakfast daily. This probably means Pockets should go back on them and since it's cool and he can have them warm, hopefully he'll eat them :-/

So less water intake and less grass to make up for it.

And yes Linda, she was certain I had lost my marbles at 3 :P

How did I miss this post? Poor Dottie and (hugs) to her mom! Sounds like you've got it all figured out and life returns to normal. Whatever that is! :P

Glad to see your back to posting...a least a little bit! Miss you!
