Ok I have them, just use them in camp though mostly on the picket lines as up north the black flies can be a bugger. But the past week up here the "bombers" have appeared and in particular love Bella and Shan (the darkest two of course). House flies are always a pest this time of year but not too terrible really, we are lucky there especially since there is a pond here that the bugs aren't worse I suppose. I have always worried about something getting under the fly sheet and causing way more havoc than the bugs that are outside of it. What if a bee got underneath? Or it gets caught on some of the brush or trees in the pasture?? They are a moot point for MP and Guy since those two are always dorking around and can't even keep a halter on either of them when I want to (like say when the farrier is coming right after work the next day and a halter already being on them would be sooo nice to save a bit of time getting everyone in and situated. Hah...never is that halter on in the afternoon and never are they to be found again...someone in china has halters growing out of the ground I think...

I use biting fly traps from http://www.bitingflies.com/ and have rid my pasture of horse and deer flies. The horses like the traps so much that they come stand around them if they are getting bit.

My horse used to be covered from head to toe with Kensington fly sheet and leg wraps, and a Crusader fly mask. The leg wraps will be tricky to keep on if you have a horse that likes to pick at them.

Kid and Andy wear theirs during yicky fly times, but the last couple days I've left them off. I even ordered a neck thing for Kid. Go figure-it got here, and now the flies have ceases.

I use a Rambo fly sheet, UNLESS it is very humid and hot. Then I dont like to use them. I think it keeps PJ cooler IF it is just sunny and hot. If you add a ton of humidity, then I think it makes PJ more hot.

I ordered my first ever fly sheet for the old mare that had a cancer lump removed. The flies seem to love her.
the flies became terrible here.. ordered the fly sheet and neck sheet...
storms came through and the flies left.
fly apparrel arrived.
I put the sheet on the mare a couple of days in a row.. but finally stopped because the flies had relocated.
I honestly feel the garlic powder from herbalcom.com is working great. The horses are getting 2 tablespoons per day now.

I've never used them.

Mosquitoes were bad here this spring but honesty it got too dry the past month or so for them. But these past week those huge bombers arrived in force and I know they hurt like a bugger when they bite! (had one get me one time!) I feel sorry for them when they have one after them. Course then tonight Bella rubbed the one off that was after her...onto Jackson...nice friend huh?? I think I will try it and see what happens maybe on Saturday when I can be around to watch them more. Jackson always gets welts from them but he doesn't seem to be taking the brunt of it since he is actually lighter colored than Shan Bella and MP. They seem to target the darker horses first. And temps are supposed to reach 80 on Sat and poss 85 on Sunday but we would have to have rain for humidity so we are probably safe there, ugh...everything is drying up pasture, corn, hayfield.
